Aly Jados: The Review.
I’ve had a lot of love for Aly Jados since I first heard her live at Angels and Kings Chicago, but her most recent video and music release has only cemented it for me.
With her voice stronger than ever, Aly continues to bring us a voice that is something of the past, cleaner than Amy Winehouse, but with more passion than Gracie Slick. With a typical hard rock backing, Aly’s...

Jo Rivera: Putting the 'M' Back in "MTV".
You may not know him by name, but I guarantee that you’ll know him by face. Starting off on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” and graduating to “Teen Mom 2”, we’ve all seen his struggles and triumphs, but it’s time to put that all behind us and look to the future. Jo Rivera is N.I.C.K. B, rapper extraordinaire who has wowed many with his real, honest, true...

Joe Hertler and The Rainbow Seekers: Album Review.
A few weeks ago we interviewed Joe Hertler and learned a little more about his past, his inspirations, and got a little deeper into the brain of the head of The Rainbow Seekers. A fresh new face in an otherwise over hipster-run scene, Joe brought the intellect and education back into music. Today, we review his new album, On Being.
Cleverly titled, Joe’s album...

The Hush Sound: Reunion Show.
Flash back to 2005, and The Hush Sound is the hottest new things at the hands of Pete Wentz and his crew at Fueled By Ramen and Decaydance. Pete Wentz may be the mastermind behind Fall Out Boy, but he is also known for his clothing line, Clandestine Industries. But, even beyond his clothing and business skills, he is known for finding some of the best talent in today’s music scene, such as...

Empires: Live at The Bottom Lounge, The Hush Sound...
In what can only be described as a flashback to 2006, Chicago’s very own The Hush Sound played a two-night, sold out reunion show at The Bottom Lounge. They played alongside old friends Empires, comprised of Tom Conrad, formerly of The Academy Is…., Max Steger of Blacktop Mourning, Sean Van Vleet, and Ryan Luciani. Joining them was also Chicago band Dr. Manhattan.
The true highlight...

Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers: The...
Not all musicians and bands coming out these days started in a garage or a basement, and not all are the same old, run of the mill rock bands who still think Zeppelin is touring. And sometimes, you have to travel outside of Chicago to find new inspiration. That is exactly what we did, and, in Detroit, Michigan, more than just Marshall Mathers emerges. Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers, and some...

Troy D Takes The Streets (And Chicago).
With the warm weather Chicago has been feeling lately, one would be crazy not to take to the streets and do a shoot. And that is exactly what Troy D did. Little did he know, however, that he’d be shooting side by side to Chicago’s very own rising hip hop star, Rockie Fresh. And it was more than coincidence that two of Chicago’s biggest stars would collide on the same date, in the...

Troy D: The Interview
Throughout the past few decades, Chicago has produced it’s fair share of musical talent, especially in the R&B and hip hop areas. But not since R. Kelly has Chicago produced a true R&B talent. Sure, there are a lot of bands in your hometown or your neighborhood that promise to be the “next big thing”, but not many can deliver on that promise.
